Now that is a dining hall! Heavy timber construction creates large open spans, supported by timber columns and steel joinery. I can only imagine how beautiful this room is at night, see the up lighting? More pictures may be needed of this project.
This design was originally sent to us in steel. We were asked to take a look in heavy timber. With an over 66ft top chord in glulam and the rest in natural douglas fir timber, here is our heavy timber design.
Personally, I love it. This timber frame project will be interesting and challenging! I'll keep you posted as design decisions are made...
It's a wonderful idea. Big open spans, timber trusses with steel tie rods and webbing. Sometimes a glulam beam is needed. Not in this case!
