Choosing your timber frame & timber framer...

Do you want a timber frame home or barn or building? If so the first major decision to make is who to choose as your timber framer. Someone to trust with your post and beam dream. Budget is important also as a custom hand crafted frame with be more of an investment than a machine milled package deal. Does your floor plan include a great room with a cathedral ceiling? Lots and lots of windows for your fabulous view? Maybe something like this...

At Vermont Timber Works we have over 20 years experience designing, fabricating and raising timber frames. If you are not sure what you want but have some ideas, I'm sure that we can help. If you know exactly what you want, we'll make sure it becomes just what you envision.

Horse Barn Anyone?

How about a timber frame horse barn? I think it's a great idea.

My Dream Horse Barn is a Timber Frame.

My 2 horses are wonderful and their barn is shown above, and it's okay for now. My dream for them is a timber frame working horse barn. Perhaps something like this...

The Duker Big Barn is a wonderful example of how beautiful and functional a timber frame barn can be. My horse barn will not be as large, but I love this layout.

Heavy Timber Trusses in Douglas Fir by Vermont Timber Works (of course)!

These trusses are ready! 3 Trusses in front are shipping to the Clay Pit Ponds Park NEW Visitor Center, Staten Island, New York. Trusses in beautiful Douglas Fir timber were fabricated and fully assembled in our shop. Steel joinery as you can see.

The timber used needed to be FSC Certified and Fire Treated, thank you Disdero Lumber for offering both.

The Scissor Trusses behind will soon be going to the Grace Episcopal Church in Amherst, MA. (expect more pictures of that project!)
